It’s not. If you could fax in your application, that would be easier. That way we could have all everything setup for you when you arrive. But if that’s not possible, you can show up at registration and we will have a spot for you. Thanks

How do I get information on schorships for this camp? My daughter would love to attend.

    Hello Cara,

Unfortunately we don’t have any scholarship assistance available for the Middle School Band Camp. We can only offer a small amount of scholarships at our Band Camp and Choral Camp due to higher number of campers at those camps. You might talk to your daughter’s band director to see if there could be any financial assistance from a band booster group or even possibly the school district. It’s common to have band boosters or school districts pay for a portion of a students’ camp fees.

I hope you still consider sending your daughter to our camp. It’s a great experience

If we have somewhere we have to be on the 25th, can parents pick them up in the evening on the 24th?

If at all possible we prefer that students stay for the entire camp that includes the concert on the 25th. However, if it’s unavoidable, yes, parents can check out their child at any time. If you decide to leave before the final concert, please inform your band conductor so that they can adjust the performance if needed.

Unfortunately there is not at this time. We are looking into a service that would allow it, but the fees associated are currently too high. You can call your credit card information into the camp office if that would be easier for you.

    Hello,
Is it possible to fax the application to you guys and send my sister with the money for the camp when she gets there at the camp?

We didn’t get paid until today and we live in Yukon, Ok so I do not know how we would get the money to you all through the mail.

    Thank you,

    Allyson

    Hello Allyson,

You can mail in your application and tuition deposit today and you’ll have a spot at the camp. We haven’t hit our max enrollment yet, so we will accept your application even though technically today is the cut-off date.

We have that date as a safety of over crowding the camp, but I don’t think that will be an issue this year. Thanks

I live in Texas but I really want to go to this band camp. Do I have to print out the application earlier?

    Hello Cynthia,

Can you send me a link to the page that says the Middle School Band Camp states July? I can’t seem to find that anywhere.

Middle School Band Camp is June 26-29 and our Band Camp is July 10-15. Middle school students are welcome at both camps, but the Middle School Band Camp is only for middle school students.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hello Trinity,

We have a variety of activities. The camp centers around one of four concert bands. We also have elective classes, master classes, and evening activities. You can view the schedule from last year’s camp here: http://swosucamps.com/?page_id=256 and that will give you an idea of the types of activities happening at the camps.

    Thanks

What are the guidelines for the talent show? For example if there are singing auditions what words can not be said

  14. Jana

My daughter is interested in coming to your band camp. She is currently in 7th grade for the 2015-2016 year. Can she attend middle school camp?

  15. Morgan

Hey I was wondering if they can choose who stays in the dorms with them and are boys and girls separated

  16. Dr. Talley Post author

    Hello,

Songs with profanity or overly sexual lyrics won’t be passed through to the actual talent show night. Talent show participants have to audition on the first day of the camp in order to perform in front of the campers. All performances must be PG.

    Thanks

    Hello,

She can attend either the Middle School Band Camp or the Band Camp. The advantage of the Middle School Band Camp is that there are only middle school students there, so it can make the camp a little less intimidating, and it is shorter. The Middle School Band Camp runs around 350 students while the Band Camp runs around 550 and will have students up to 18 years of age.

The Band Camp does have a few more opportunities as there are 2 elective classes per day to attend and generally more activities, but both are great camps for a soon to be 8th grader.

    Thanks

The audition music is the same for each instrument regardless of grade. After placement in one of the 4 concert bands, each concert band will rehearse different music. There are some younger students in the top band and some older students in the other bands, so we audition people based upon skill and not age.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Yes, students can give a roommate preference on the application. We encourage both campers to list each other on their camp applications as a preference. We can’t guarantee to match on the preference, but we try our best. Sometimes several students want to room with the same person, which can’t be done due to our rooms only having 2 single beds.

Yes, boys and girls are housed on different floors of our dorms. We have counselors that stay on each wing of the dorm too. Usually we put girls on the higher floors and bar boys from going above a certain floor.

    Thanks
